How much does a tattoo usually cost in New York?

Tattoo prices vary based on size, detail, style, placement and the time needed to complete the work. A small simple tattoo and a detailed portrait require very different planning, so the best estimate comes after the artist reviews your specific idea.

Do I need a finished drawing before I book a tattoo?

No. You can start with reference images, a rough sketch, a photograph or a written description of what you want. It is often more useful to explain which parts of your references you like than to arrive with artwork you feel cannot be changed.

How small can a fineline tattoo be?

That depends on the design. Very simple symbols can work at smaller sizes, while designs containing lettering, faces, flowers or many internal details generally need more space. We will recommend simplifying or enlarging an idea when that gives the tattoo a clearer structure.

Can an old dark tattoo be completely covered?

Sometimes, but it depends on the size, darkness, color and shape of the existing tattoo. Cover ups often need to be larger and may require stronger dark areas than the new design you first imagined. We need to see the existing tattoo before giving meaningful guidance.

What should I eat or drink before getting tattooed?

Eat a normal meal before your appointment and stay hydrated. Arriving hungry, dehydrated or exhausted can make a tattoo session more difficult, so basic preparation matters.

Can I get tattooed over sunburned or irritated skin?

Tattooing should not be planned over skin that is actively sunburned, injured or irritated. If the intended area is not in normal condition close to your appointment, contact the studio before coming in so the situation can be discussed.

How long will my tattoo appointment take?

Appointment length depends on the size, placement, detail and style of the tattoo. Small designs may be relatively quick, while portraits, large color pieces and complex cover ups can require longer or multiple sessions.

Do you tattoo people coming from outside Maspeth?
